Landmannalaugar offers a mountain hut for overnight stays, or you can camp in a tent or camper at the campsite near the hut.

Landmannalaugar Hut

The two-story “hut” at Landmannalaugar can accommodate up to 78 people and is a comfortable place to overnight when you visit the region.

The hut is managed by FÍ (Ferðafélag Íslands, the Iceland Touring Association) and you can check availability by submitting a form online. Advance booking is strongly recommended.

The Landmannalaugar Hut has a kitchen with gas stoves, dishes, pots and pans. There is also hot and cold running water, potable water, a grill outside, and beds (bunk style, singles and doubles). Beds only come with mattresses.

The hut is connected to a separate building that houses the toilets and showers, which are also accessible to day visitors and tent or campervan campers for a fee.

In the summer, there is a warden at the hut.

No food is provided as part of the hut rental, so bring all supplies with you.

One night at the Landmannalaugar hut currently costs 15,800 ISK (Icelandic krona) or USD 122.37 per person. There is also a shower fee of 1,000 kr (USD 7.72) per shower.

Tent Camping at Landmannalaugar

There are designated tent camping spots at the Landmannalaugar campsite. They offer views of the surrounding mountains and are a beautiful option if you enjoy being close to nature.

The camping area is close to the service cabin that houses the showers and toilets and is a gravel site. It is difficult to drive pegs into the ground here, and rocks have been provided to help secure your tent. Look for them in crates nearby and return them to the same place when you leave.

If you camp in a tent, you can’t use the kitchen at the Landmannalaugar hut, so bring all your supplies and equipment.

Payment of a camping fee allows you to use the toilets, get drinking water, and use the outdoor grill and benches. Shower fees are extra. The camping fee per person per night is currently 3,200 ISK (USD 24.72), and the shower fee is 1,000 ISK (USD 7.72) per shower.

Campervan Camping at Landmannalaugar

You can also arrive in a campervan and camp at Landmannalaugar in one of the designated campervan parking spots.

Day Use Facilities

Visitors not planning to stay overnight at Landmannalaugar that wish to use the facilities (toilets, potable water, outdoor grill, benches) must pay a service fee, which is a bundled fee for parking and services.

The fee for a standard vehicle is currently 1,200 ISK (USD 9.18). This fee is payable when you make Landmannalaugar reservations, or, if you visit outside of the window requiring reservation, upon arrival.

Can you stay in Landmannalaugar?

The Landmannalaugar Hut, managed by the Iceland Touring Association, offers basic accommodation at Landmannalaugar. The hut is only open in the summer.
